The Bilbao girl was proclaimed world champion after a thrilling final in the Azores.
Sunday, November 27th saw the Championship final for the Women's World Bodyboard title in which Eunate won for the first time, defeating the Brazilian Isabella Sousa. After many years of effort and sacrifice in the high competition she finally broke the curse of eternal second.
Eunate Aguirre started bodyboaring at the young age of eleven years while playing with friends on the beach. In 1995, she entered into competitions for the first time in a rising interclubs. She took second place, thus kicking off the beginning of this bodyboarder’s unstoppable career.
Since then Eunate hasn’t stopped taking international titles, twice European Junior Champion 1998-1999 and 1999-2000. Europe became her launch pad and she is now looking at the next step: the world circuit.
