Journey to India

check out this amazing clip of our trip to Kashmir last winter. Its been a fantastic experience to ski there and a great adventure. I hope you like it! :-)

The Big Blues

Surfers for Cetaceans' environmental campaign TransparentSea voyage has come to an end in Mission Bay, San Diego, California...

It's been the most AMAZING trip; the highlights being swimming with a superpod (100s and 100s) of wild common dolphins, taking action in LA harbour and of course, meeting the blue whales just miles off the coast of Newport beach (can you believe I was swimming with 2 two 90 foot prehistoric creatures who were more than happy to hang out with us and even followed us back to shore)!!

Here's Roxy Australia Team Rider and Surfers for Ceteaceans ambassador Lauren Lindsey Hill in a quiet moment with the whales.  Our whole crew was stunned into silence...

Until they headed for Dave and my kayaks and went right underneath them almost touching us... everyone errupted into WHOOPS at that point!

We couldn't believe how gentle these creatures were, and after being hunted to the brink of extinction in the last 2 centuries due to commercial whaling, clearly they have the biggest hearts on the planet with such capaicity for compassion and forgiveness...(and they do aswell - their hearts being as big as a compact car!)

TransparentSea drew attention to many issues down the coast of Southern California with regards to marine mammals, buying locally, and supporting organisations such as SurfRider Foundation, SurfAid International and Environmental Defence Centre (plus many more).

The team sailed roughly 300 miles in peddle powered Hobie kayaks through sun, wind, fog... making music, art, holding events, cleaning beaches and surfing classic spots such as Malibu and Trestles along the way.

Eternal gratitude goes out to "the family" for opening their arms to me and already we are looking forward to the next TransparentSea in Europe!

Roxy Future Team Camp 2011

Last week saw another very successful Roxy Future Team camp in Saas Fee. The conditions were brilliant for the week and the park and pipe were really good for the whole camp. The camp was for the aspiring Roxy riders from all over Europe. The girls, both skiers and snowboarders, get the chance to ride together and get to know one another better. As well as riding we have workshops in goal setting and media training and also dryland training.

This year there were some real standouts on the snow. New Roxy Team rider Klaudia Medlova from Slovakia tried her first ever double cork, a double heelside rodeo and was very close to getting it clean. As well as rodeos she was laying down some sweet fronside spins.

All the girls were riding really, really well. Katie Ormerod from the UK was learning backside 540's along with Maria Delfina from Italy. Both girls have lovely backside spinning skills! Another silky backside spinner is Finish rider Kristina Nisula who landed some lovely backside 540's on the bottom jump. The younger riders were killing the pipe with standout being French rider Thalie Larochaix who was flying. As well as roxy riders from all over Europe, we were joined by the two lucky Radar Competition winners, Amanda Gustafson and Hanne Eilertsen from Sweden and Norway respectivley. The girls soon got into the swing and both showed some great potential, especially on the rails. Here is Amanda spinning on the rainbow!

The Roxy Future Team Camp is a great way to start the season and if the season goes as well as the camp did, we are all in for a great one!
