Roxy surfer Sally Fitzgibbons continues to dominate the ASP Women’s World Tour as she claims her second consecutive win at the Subaru Pro TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival in New Zealand.

Charging into the finals amidst a wave of near perfect scores and flawless performances, Australian-born Fitzgibbons was high on confidence in familiar waters and it translated in her final heat against Hawaii’s Carissa Moore, who until today held the top position on the women’s tour. With today’s win, Fitzgibbons moved into the number one position on the 2011 Women’s World Tour.

“I am just so overwhelmed,” Sally stated. “It’s an incredibly feeling. I just tried to have fun out there and do my best. It’s like a dream right now.”

“Sally is on fire!” said Danielle Beck, Vice President of Roxy, Marketing “We are so excited! Sally has had winning on the mind for years and we really feel like this is her year.”

Congratulations to Sally Fitzgibbons for her incredible performance these past few weeks. Next up for the Roxy pro surfer is a trip back home for the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic.

The Worlds Elite Women Surfers come Together In Biarritz!

RXPRO11-HEADER-UK

Roxy has created an innovative event, which unites for the first time the world’s best women surfers and longboarders: The ROXY PRO in Biarritz July 11th-17th July 2011.

It is big news in the surfing world. The ASP Women’s Longboard World Championship (WLT) traditionally comes to Biarritz during this period. This year it will be joined by a leg of the ASP Women’s World Tour, which assembles the Top 17 of World surfers and wildcard Lee-Ann Curren.

The event offers a dream line-up, including: Stephanie Gilmore (Aus) four-times World Surfer Champion; Sally Fitzgibbons (Aus) 2nd runner up in 2010; Lee-Ann Curren (wildcard) from France will also headline alongside the sirens of noseriding, Jennifer Smith (USA) double World Champion and icon of the discipline Kassia Meador (USA).

The two competitions will be run during the same period. The Roxy Jam will be renamed the ROXY PRO for this occasion. On the longboard side, the girls will compete in the first of two legs of the World Circuit in Biarritz on the Cote des Basques, whilst the surfers will compete in their penultimate event of the season at nearby Villa Belza, or at one of neighbouring spots, which will have a mobile structure to have the best wave conditions.

With two legs of the ASP World Championships (longboard and surf) and a cultural program mixing concerts and art exhibitions, the ROXY PRO will make another mark on surfing history.
More than anything else, it’s the unmissable event of the year!

The Roxy Pro, 11th - 17th July in Biarritz:

  • 1st of two legs of the ASP Women’s World Longboard Championship 2011.
  • 6th and penultimate event of the ASP World Shortboard Championship 2011.
  • Huge free concert Sat 16th July, Port Vieux Beach, Biarritz: Lily Wood & The Prick, The Sounds, and Pendentif.
  • Art exhibition by Roxy icons Kassia Meador, Pandora Decoster and others, dedicated to surf culture and with a Californian theme.
  • Free introduction to Surfing for the public, tandem surf demonstrations, fireworks for the 14th July.
  • Follow the competition live in HD on www.roxy.com

TORAH BRIGHT: ADVENTURES IN DISNEYLAND

Disneyland_matterhorn-e1303952597654                Riding a different kind of mountain. Disneyland’s Matterhorn was one of our favorites.

After spending a few stormy days in Mammoth with Jake, who was shooting photos for Snowboarder Mag, we headed south to spend the Easter weekend with my family at Disneyland. It really is the happiest place on earth. I had so much fun with my niece Rylee, running around from ride to ride, getting our faces painted and picking up a pair of Mini Mouse ears too (of course).

Now, I’m back in Utah enjoying some of this late season pow, doing a little backcountry touring and getting in a few laps at Snowbird. Happy spring!

Cheers, Torah

Squaw Valley

After a week in Breckenrdige Colorado, I headed over to Reno, and up into the Californian mountains to ride at Squaw Valley for the Red Bull training camp.

The set up was the best! A private park with sleds, airbags and an on hill trampoline. We where really unlucky with the weather but we got one sunny day and it was epic!

Right now I am on the Plane, it has Wifi! Heading back home for a couple of weeks before the British board test where I will go with Katie Ormerod.

Here are a few pictures.

check out the full write up of the week on my blog.
