The French Roxy Team surfer Lee-Ann Curren (21) posted today the best result of her young career with 5th place finish at the Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico, event n°7 of 8 on 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour.
On her way to the quarter finals, Tom Curren’s daughter even defeated former World Champion Sofia Mulanovich, Peru, in the 3rd Round of the event.
In quarter finals, the only French and European surfer qualified for the Dream Tour this year, was defeated by former World Champion Chelsea Hedges (ex Georgeson) but this 5th place remains an important achievement for the Biarritz surfer coming back from a bad knee injury this summer (she missed the event in Peru in June).
Rookie on the ASP Women’s World Tour this season, Lee-Ann is looking for another good result in Hawaii to keep her spot among the elite of woman surfing next year.
Another great performance today was the equal 3rd position of Australia’s Sally Fitzgibbons in Puerto Rico. The Roxy surf team rider managed to qualify to the semi final of the event where Stephanie Gilmore clinched her 4th word crown in a row.
The next and last stop of ASP Women’s World Tour will be held in Hawaii from 8 to 20 of december.
