Aimee, Kendall, Enni and Silje at the Canadian Open
The Burton Canadian Open has just finished and we have yet more Roxy winners. Enni Rukajarvi won the ladies slopestyle in her impressive no nonsense, ultra stylish and silky smooth way with Lisa Wiik stepping up her technical tricks to take a well deserved second place. Added to her 5th place in the halfpipe yesterday, this puts Lisa at the top of the Burton Global Open standings and Enni close behind, in second, for a Roxy one, two in the overall! To add an nice icing to the cake, New Zealand Roxy rider Kendall Brown took the top spot in the ladies halfpipe contest, beating the top Canadian riders in their home pipe. Great news for our top form riders.
Lisa and Enni at the top of the pipe
The contest was a closely fought event with the top spots changing throughout in both the pipe and slope. The girls were pushing themselves hard, especially in the slopestyle, showing that the European Roxy riders are at the forefront of ladies slopestyle riding. While Kendall, Lisa and Enni were riding in Calgary, Kjersti was throwing it down in Vermont at the Last Dew Tour stop. Proving yet again that she is the ultimate all rounder, she shone in both the pipe and slopestyle, taking 3rd in the pipe and in the overall pipe standings and 5th in the slopestyle finals. She will join both Lisa and Kendall in Vancouver in a few days where the girls will meet the other Roxy Olympians, Torah, Mirabelle, Paulina and Lesley. The pipe comp will be on the 18th in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, our very own skier Lena Stoffel has also been on the podium for Roxy in the Mayrhofen Freeski Open. The standard of the competition was high and Lena brought out her newly learnt misty flip to clinch the title. Well done Lena! She will now head to the free ride contest in St Moritz where she hopes her powder riding is as good as her park skills!
