Anne-Marie Reichman wishes you Happy Holidays

Being in Hawaii for Christmas and New Years is almost a little strange... Being Grown up in Holland, I am used to " the cold weather feeling" around this time of the year. So... being in bikini's and tank tops around Christmas time and playing in the ocean every day; compared to sitting around the fire places back home is a big difference! On Christmas day I actually felt some winter feelings.... The Firemen from Paia (north shore Maui) were so creative this day to bring us an artificial 'white Christmas'!
Needless to say... I ran out the car and had to play with it ;-))

I wish everyone Happy Holidays and a rocking, healthy, happy, creative, successful year in
2010 with lots of amazing,  inspiring moments on land and in the water.P1010001

Andrea Binning trip in Antartica !

Wow! Antarctica has truly lived up to the great expectations that I had heard over the years. We sailed down on a 75ft boat from Ushuaia called the Australis and crossed the Drake passage with not too many major problems only a few sea sick crew. The seas were very similar to what they normally experience on the crossing which I would say was very rough! We made the crossing it in 3 days which is a record time for our boat.

Once we got down to the Antarctic Peninsula we got straight onto land and into some ski touring, as the weather looked good once we arrived. We had planned for a fairly mellow first day but it seemed that we ended up getting ourselves onto a fairly steep approach to the top of Jabet peak and then we had a 45-50 degree descent down on nice buffed snow. The next summit was Mt Demaria. This was a mountain we tried to get on the day before but it was too warm by midday and needed to be on it early in the morning. It was such a great summit, and a really nice corn ski down to the waters edge. It is great to be out in the mountains with Stian and Chris Davenport, they are both are very experienced mountaineers, and am really enjoying being out in the mountains with them both.

This place is truly amazing, have seen so many whales, and penguins and lots of ice bergs! The terrain to ski is unlimited and with 2 more weeks of skiing here, I am sure that we are just scratching the surface of what we expect to ski over the next week.

First day climbing Mt. Jabet. Stian Hagen in the lead.

Lee Ann Curren earned her ticket for the ASP Women's World Tour 2010

Sans-titre-1

After only two years on the WQS circuit, (World Qualifying Series) Lee-Ann has solidified her surfing and progressed regularly over the course of the seasons. Semi finalist in the 5 star WQS in Brazil, Lee-Ann finished this season with 7240 points and earned her ticket for the ASP Women’s World Tour for next year. She finds herself, at only 20 years old, the youngest European surfer ever to qualify.

The daughter of legendary Tom Curren three times World Championed and Marie-Pascale Delappe, runner up French and European surfing Champion. Lee-Ann is the only French surfer on the prestigious circuit of the 18 best female surfers in the World.

European Junior Champion in 2006, ASP European Champion in 2007 and 2009. In the history of French surfing Lee-Ann is only the third person to ever qualify for the elite Tour of women’s surfing.

Her big wave knowledge, calm temperament and her mature approach to competition will be essential attributes in her rookie year.  She will first be put to the test at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast, the inaugural event of the Dream Tour.  In the hollow tubes or on beach breaks, Lee-Ann Curren has all the qualities to compete with the best surfers in the world.

Multi talented and creative, Lee-Ann also plays guitar and sings when she is not surfing.  Sensitive to environmental issues, she actively helps with Roxy initiatives, which protect her ocean play ground.
