After 2 months working hard in my surfing school in Vendee i had to fly to Hawaii with Loïc my surfing tandem partner to take part into the Tandem Surfing World Championship in Waikiki ! This is the third time we take part into this event and we really wanted to reach the semis but we didn't had a lot of waves so... we finish 10th. The good point is just 2 days before leaving Hawaii we went surfing on the North Shore, that was a great experience for us !
Straight after Hawaii i flew to Australia (Coffs Harbour) for the World Waveski Championship, i couldn't train a lot this summer so i was a little bit stressed but waves were great and surfing feeling also. Moreover Coffs Harbour is a wonderfull place with kangaroos visiting us in the garden !
The level was high this year with all former ladies world champs taking part into the contest. During all heats i was 2 points higher than the other girls but the begining of the final was hard for me, i couldn't find scoring waves for the first 15 minutes.... i surfed my 2 best waves in the last 10 minutes and took the lead of the final and won my 8th world title. The next week was the last french longboarding cup in Vendée (where i come from), i was tired with traveling and competing and didn't want to compete but my club made the entrie for me, and luckly for me because i won this contest with a 8.5 scoring wave in the final at home.
The next week we had to fly to Florida to take part into the American waveski championship in Sebastian Inlet (south of Cocoa Beach), we were unlucky with waves, waiting for an hurrican that never came...anyway, Florida is a great surfing place with strong surfing culture. Because of the lack of waves we towed out with a big bungee, it was a lot of fun !
Last trip for 09 was Reunion Island at the begining of november where i took part into the french waveski championship and where i organized the World Waveski Tour (contest for only top 16 best men in the world and top 6 women), i won both of them but now i need to sleep !! Reunion Island is amazing with beautiful landscape, volcano, great waves uncrowded, even St Leu in the early morning ! http://www.subgraviti.com/reunion09.php
If I look back, this is for sure my best surfing/traveling fall i've never had, i' ready for spring with others travels and contests around the world !
