Francisca's trip in Australia - part 1

Hi girls!
P1010038
I arrived in Australia a week ago! It’s been crazy out here.

In the first two days, it was like raining and windy, and I thought “oh no, I can´t believe that I ran from the freezing and rainy Europe to get sun burn and now here I am in Australia and it’s raining too, thanks!” but anyway, the waves were good and I had the chance to surf really good waves we only a few people out!
The weather and waves got better this last five days, sunny and warm and the surf was sooo fun!
I’ve been surfing between D-bah and Snapper rocks with my friends, Vera and Ana and two other Brazilian professional surfers, Bruna Schmitz and Claudia Gonçalves!

I’m staying with Vera and Ana, two Portuguese girls in a rented house! We got to the supermarket, we cook and we clean. It’s really nice to live with only two friends, it’s an adventure.
The WCT starts in a week and the pros are arriving, so the level in the water is getting really good! So many good surfers.

That’s all for my first week here!! Surf and eat it’s pretty much what we’ve been doing!!
Hope to give you more good news from Australia!!

*Kiss*Kiss*

Francisca!!!

PS1: Here is a little draw that my friend Vera did, she is a good painter!! Enjoy
PS2: I hope next time I can show you some good photos, I’ll try my best

Emma is feeling pretty confident and wants to add to her great Burton European Open podium results. Good Luck Emma!

Lena on the podium with her new surf board

100_1146

Another successful few days for the Roxy snow team have been topped off by Roxy skier Lena Stoffel and Roxy Snowboarder Bettina Koffler who made it two Roxy ladies on the podium at the Austrian 'Check the Ripper' competition held in Nordpark near Innsbruck. The competition is a novel mix of free ride and freestyle where time and tricks count towards the final score of each rider. Bettina is an old hand at the comp and has won the event twice before. She charged hard this year to finish in 3rd spot. Lena also charged hard and was stoked to walk away with both first place and a nice new surf board!!!

Both Bettina and Lena have been charging hard all season in the great snow conditions around Innsbruck and the Arlberg. They are both out shooting and filming with various magazines and crews and look to be on the top of their game right now, with the rest of the Roxy snow team. Well done girls!!

We are so proud of Sam Davies!!! She posted the second fastest time ever for a female to finish the Vendee Globe!! The Vendee Globe is a solo sailing race around the world. Captain Sam sailed all by herself around the entire world. And she finished third!...watch this funny clip of her dancing on board in the middle of the race. Congrats Sam!!

From Roxy Europe:

Today at 00:41 (GMT), British female solo sailor Sam Davies, onboard Roxy, crossed the Vendée Globe finish line in third place. After 96 days, 12 hours, 39 minutes and 1 second at sea and 27,470 miles of racing, Sam became only the third Briton ever to achieve a podium place finish in the infamous race that starts and ends in Les Sables d’Olonne, France.

At the end of December, Sam Davies and Roxy altered course to help in the daring sea rescue of fellow competitor Yann Eliès, who suffered a broken leg while alone at sea. Roxy was given 32 hours redress, to be deducted from her finishing time, meaning that Sam’s final official racing time stands at: 95 days, 4 hours, 39 minutes and 1 second. She must beat French skipper Marc Guillemot, who was given a redress of 82 hours after his help in the same rescue, by 50 hours to secure third place.

At the age of 34, Sam Davies becomes the second fastest female ever, after Ellen MacArthur, to complete the race. Sam is also the first Briton to cross the finish line of the 2008/2009 race, beating the likes of sailing legend Brian Thompson and the only other female competitor, Dee Caffari, both racing on new boats and not expected over the line for another couple of days.
