Hello everybody!
Yesterday finished with a "boy shower" up on the bow of ROXY! This time there was plenty of water to rinse my hair. When there is a free, continuous warm(ish) shower going on 24/7, you might as well make the most of it. As I said, every cloud has a silver lining and now it smells of roses onboard Roxy!
I am still pushing hard to try to stay in front of Foncia for as long as possible... It's pretty difficult though. Now the wind is starting to drop, I will see the others behind catching up a bit. Hopefully, at the same time I will gain on the leaders.
This morning I have been making the most of the quieter conditions to do some DIY. A few little bits and bobs to fix, and yet another big check around Roxy.
Now I am absolutely STARVING hungry for once, so I am going to have a pause from my jobs and eat a big lunch. On the menu today: Sodebo bread, cheese, marmite, pistachios, some sardines perhaps, and an orange to finish off with!

The Roxy Wahine Cup, South Africa’s Premier stand-alone women’s surfing event, is heading for the idyllic beach and waves of Suncoast Beach in Durban next weekend. This year sees the 10th version of the event take place, and is sure to be an action-packed and exciting weekend for contestants and spectators alike.
The best surfers in the country are all going to be attending and competing in the event, all determined for a win and a share of the generous prize money. Even those girls who have never surfed in an event before are going to get the chance of competing in the Novice Division for the amazing one-year Roxy sponsorship that is up for grabs in this division.
We can expect last year’s winner Heather Clark, who pocketed R10,000 for her win, to be back and defending her title this year. She will have her work cut out for her, with a crew of hot young surfers nipping at her heels for a win and the accolades that go with it. Tanika Hoffman and Tarryn Chudleigh with be flying on from Cape Town, and Nikita Robb will be making her way from East London for the event. They will be joined by the local crew of the likes of Kirsty Delport and Sarah Baum.
This year is the 10th annual running of the event, and shows Roxy’s dedicated support of South African women’s surfing. The event has a tradition of being one of the most well-attended events on the calendar, and the competitors have always claimed it is their favourite event of the year.

Haleiwa, Hawaii – East London-born World Tour surfer Rosy Hodge placed a well-deserved fifth-place in the Reef Hawaiian Pro to secure her berth on the Women’s World Tour for 2009. At the time of going to press Rosy was sitting a very comfortable third place on the World Qualifying Series ratings, and is a confirmed starter on the 2009 tour.
The venue for the final day of surfing was Haleiwa’s Ali’I Beach Park, where highly contestable four to five-foot waves poured through, breaking both left and right. Rosy was on top of her game and surfed great throughout the event, advancing all the way to the semi finals. In the second semi, Rosy placed third behind eventual event winner Carissa Moore from Hawaii and 7-time world champion Layne Beachley, who went on to place second in the event. This left Rosy with a fifth place finish in the event and a secured berth on the Women’s World Tour 2009 – the pinnacle of female professional surfing. The ASP World Tour consists of 17 of the best competitive female surfers in the world, a very prestigious club of which Rosy is a member for the third year in a row.
"We're really proud of Rosy and everything she has accomplished while building her surfing career,” said Candice Mac Nicol, Roxy South Africa’s Marketing Manager. “Rosy really is the epitome of the Roxy surfer and lifestyle; fun, carefree, naturally beautiful and caring. And she's a great surfer!"
Rosy, currently still in Hawaii, is also stoked with her requalification. “I’m really happy about requalifying, so I can concentrate on the World Tour now,” said a happy Rosy. “Things went really well for me on the WQS this year, but I struggled a bit on the World Tour, with my boards not arriving for 2 of the events. On the whole I have been really enjoying myself this year, and I’m finding my groove, so hopefully I can keep improving.”
There are still two women’s World Tour events this year, the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach Hawaii, and the Billabong Pro on Maui. “I’m going to really concentrate on these two events,” said Rosy. “It is my goal to finish in the top 10 for the year.
